The letters IBCLC stand for International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, considered the highest level of accreditation in the field of lactation. An IBCLC is an allied healthcare professional certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®), independently accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE).

Most insurance providers are required to cover lactation services under the auspices of the Affordable Care Act. According to the National Women’s Law Center:
“The law requires that all new health plans must provide certain preventive services without any cost-sharing, including coverage for breastfeeding support and supplies.”
I recommend contacting your provider directly for explanation of your coverage benefits. For insurance, I require co-payments for in-network plans or payment for out-of network plans at the time of the visit, in either cash, check, or credit card. I will provide out-of network clients with a detailed receipt for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

I offer in-home consultations to towns in the Boston Metrowest area. I’m located in Hopkinton, MA, which is approximately 25 miles west of Boston and will drive anywhere within a 30 mile radius of my home.
If you’re outside of this radius or would rather do a virtual consult, these are available as well!
